My Own Midwife

You will have your own midwife throughout your pregnancy, labour and birth and postnatal journey. We have 3 full time and 2 part time midwives who have a set caseload each month. We limit our numbers to ensure we can maintain a gold standard of care to our clients. You are not just another number, YOU are at the centre of your care.

Your journey.

  • Pregnancy care

During pregnancy you will learn about birth physiology and how to prepare for your best birth. Everyone’s journey is unique and your midwife will honour this by considering your individual circumstances and work in partnership with you to promote the well-being of you and your baby and prepare you for birth and motherhood. New Life Midwives have extended their knowledge with various other modalities and are passionate about sharing this knowledge with you. We want you to be excited about giving birth!

  • Labour and Birth

Childbirth is a rite of passage and is something that should be celebrated, not feared. Your trusted midwife is on call for your birth. Your midwife’s role is to hold space and work in partnership to promote a physiological birth. Sometimes babies send us curveballs and when things don’t go according to plan, your midwife stays with you, working in partnership to ensure you make informed decisions about your care and the have the most empowering birth experience possible.

  • Postpartum

Your midwife will continue to be on call and care for you postnatally at home in the first week. This allows you time to settle in with your new family member and also adjust to physical and hormonal changes, breastfeeding and understanding your newborn. Your midwife will provide physical, emotional and breastfeeding support to ensure a positive transition to motherhood. You will see your midwife for 6-7 weeks, usually weekly. This may be more or less depending on your individual needs.
