Placenta Encapsulation

from $290.00

Placenta encapsulation is the practice of ingesting the placenta, which is made into capsules by dehydrating and grinding into a powder. While there is limited evidence on the therapeutic benefits, women report the benefits to include an increase in energy levels, reduced mood swings and overall improved feeling of postpartum well-being, increased iron levels and increased milk supply.

The process involves washing your placenta and preparing it for dehydration over 18 hours. We will also dehydrate a lovely keepsake of your baby’s cord. Generally, it’s recommended ingesting 2 capsules, twice daily with food, after your milk is “in”. Avoid dairy, zinc and calcium supplements around the time of ingestion.

There are a few options for pick up and delivery. We can pick up and drop off from-to your home for $40, pick up and post return for $30 or you can drop off the placenta and post return for $10. Alternatively, you can drop off and collect to incur no extra charge. Collection outside a 25km radius of Ipswich will incur a fee of $0.75 per km outside this area. Collection fee will be waived for New Life Midwifery clients.

You can read more about the evidence on placenta encapsulation here.

*Note: We only have 8 placenta encapsulation offerings per year.
